Vice President, Manufacturing

Location: Wheeling, IL

 

SUMMARY

The VPM is responsible for planning, organizing, directing, controlling, and coordinating all aspects of TSW manufacturing facilities to ensure safe, quality, efficient and profitable operations which will produce top quality steel wire and bar.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for operating multiple locations as safe, highly efficient, and profitable operations upholding the policies, practices, procedures, and ethics as set forth by the Executive Management of Taubensee Steel & Wire Co.
  • Oversees all safety and environmental programs in coordination with established policies at TSW and assistance from EHS Manager and VP, People Wellness. Responsible for making safety the #1 priority.
  • Responsible for supervision and leadership of all Mill Management, Team Leaders, Team Members and Administrative Staff personnel.
  • Responsible for plant set-up and production flow throughout TSW facilities.
  • Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of all machine capabilities to ensure top efficiencies and machine utilization.
  • Responsible for overall scheduling, production planning, and lead times.
  • Responsible for maintaining pulse on sales, materials, and scheduling information flow.
  • Responsible for maintaining the ISO quality system where all quality requirements, documentation and testing procedures are meeting TSW standards.
  • Coordinates with the TSW Purchasing Manager on a frequent basis for all incoming raw materials.
  • Responsible for steel inventories, accuracy of finished and raw steel inventories, and maintains over 90 inventories to the lowest quantity possible.
  • Responsible for overseeing maintenance programs of TSW facilities.
  • Project Management for capital projects, as directed.
  • Monitors TSW Sales and Shipping departments to maintain shipping operations.
  • Coordinates with VP, People Wellness for all employee relations/employment practice issues to keep pulse on team environment.  Assists with union contract negotiations and union avoidance programs, where applicable.
  • Responsible for conducting employee evaluations and leader development.
  • Works with CFO to create annual operations budgets to be approved by the Executive Committee and is accountable for achievement of that budget for operations.
  • Member of the TSW Senior Leadership Team and TSW Corporate Safety Management Team.
  • Performs other tasks and responsibilities as directed by the President.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • College Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred
  • Physical ability to operate all facility equipment if the need arises
  • Ten (10) + years of top-level management experience in a manufacturing setting
  • Exceptional communication and organizational skills
  • Strong multi-tasking ability
  • Extensive team building, leadership skills and presentation skills
  • Positive attitude with the ability to think critically and problem solve and execute change management
  • Proven ability to display self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, and proactivity
  • Logical, organized approach enabling the entire day-to-day operations to run smoothly
  • A genuinely honest, trustworthy, dedicated, and loyal employee
  • Thorough knowledge of steel wire or bar manufacturing preferred but not required
  • Previous ISO experience preferred
  • Strong knowledge of major quality and safety systems
  • Proficient Computer aptitude
