The Wheeling Operations Manager is responsible for the effective and efficient leadership and execution of manufacturing support activities (safety, maintenance, inventory control, receiving, and shipping) for the Wheeling Mill.  Promotes continuous improvement in all areas and leads by example.

RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for upholding the policies, practices, procedures and ethics as set forth by the Executive Management of Taubensee Steel & Wire Co.
  • Responsible for Safety Team and all safety and environmental programs in coordination with established policies at TSW at the Wheeling location.
  • In conjunction with the GM and EHS Manager, responsible for making safety a #1 priority in the TSW Wheeling Mill.
  • Understands ISO 9001 system able to create, implement, audit and train.
  • Responsible for maintenance programs, internally and externally resourced.
  • Responsible for maintaining a thorough knowledge of all machine capabilities.
  • Responsible for timely and accurate communication of all support activities that impact manufacturing.
  • Thorough analysis of department results, efficiencies and recommendations to improve.
  • Coordinates with the Production Scheduler and Manufacturing Manager for daily production planning and support.
  • Responsible for planning and implementing continuous improvement projects and corrective/preventive actions throughout the facility.
  • Coordinates with the Quality Assurance Specialist on a frequent basis to ensure all quality requirements, documentation and testing procedures are meeting TSW standards for necessary departments.
  • Coordinates with the TSW Purchasing Director on a frequent basis for all incoming raw materials.
  • Oversees and coordinates with Maintenance Coordinator for Wheeling maintenance inventories.
  • Supervises and leads hourly maintenance staff covering 24/7 operations, shipping, yard, and receiving personnel.
  • Evaluates proper staffing levels and hires right people for the right place for the success of the organization.
  • Participates in annual budget process including labor, variable expenses and capital projects.
  • Coordinates with TSW Sales, logistic company and shipping/receiving lead personnel to execute traffic operations.
  • Coordinates with affected functions to establish new practices, procedures or machinery installed.

 

JOB REQUIREMENTS

  • College Degree required
  • Physical ability to operate all facility equipment if the need arises.
  • Strong leadership experience in a manufacturing, maintenance and/or engineering setting.
  • Proven ability to display leadership, self-confidence, motivation, decisiveness, flexibility, and exceptional communication and organizational skills.
  • Logical, organized approach enabling the entire day-to-day operation to run smoothly.
  • Ability to problem solve, get to root cause and execute corrective actions
  • Strong excel and computer aptitude.
