SUMMARY
Develops, implements, and coordinates quality control and assurance systems to prevent or eliminate defects in new or existing products and plans, coordinates, and directs the quality systems designed to ensure continuous quality production of products consistent with established standards.
DUTIES
- Coordinates with other top management personnel in formulating and establishing company policies, operating procedures and goals
- Reviews technical problems and procedures of departments and recommends solutions to problems or changes in procedures
- Visits and confers with representatives of material and component vendors to obtain information related to supply quality, capacity of vendor to meet orders, and vendor quality standards
- Develops and analyzes statistical data and product specifications to determine present standards and establish proposed quality and reliability expectancy of finished product
- Formulates and maintains quality control objectives complementary to corporate policies and goals
- Creates and implements inspection criteria and procedures
- Interprets quality control philosophy to key personnel in organization
- Coordinates objectives with production procedures in cooperation with other plant managers to maximize product reliability and minimize costs
- Provides inspection activity for product throughout production cycle
- Applies quality management tools and approaches to analytical and reporting processes within each department
- Travel required – approximately 30%
- Other duties as assigned
QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor’s Degree of Science or equivalent; or four to ten years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Thorough knowledge of Quality Systems/concepts, strong industry technical skills balanced with critical thinking, problem solving and change management skills are required. ISO 9000 experience a must. Six Sigma/Kanban experience is a plus.
